A tuition-free public charter school in Austin, Texas, where small class sizes, project-based learning, and a close-knit community help every student from Kindergarten through 8th grade thrive.
Test Charter Academy opened its doors in Austin, Texas in 2014 with a clear mission: to give every child, regardless of circumstance, access to an exceptional education. As a tuition-free public charter school, we removed financial barriers from the very beginning, welcoming students from Kindergarten through 8th grade into a community built on high expectations and genuine care.
From our founding, we embraced a project-based learning model paired with a strong focus on character development. This approach allows students to explore real-world challenges, work collaboratively, and develop the critical thinking skills they will carry forward long after they leave our halls. Our dedicated STEM lab, honors tracks beginning in 5th grade, and an accelerated STEM program in 7th and 8th grade reflect our commitment to stretching every learner.
Today, Test Charter Academy serves 340 students across Austin with one of the lowest student-to-teacher ratios in the district. Every family receives a quarterly review of their child's personalized learning plan, ensuring that our school truly partners with the community it serves.
Every decision we make and every classroom interaction we foster is guided by these four principles.
We believe every student is capable of greatness. We set ambitious goals, provide the support to reach them, and celebrate each step of the journey.
Academic success and strong character go hand in hand. We weave integrity, empathy, and personal responsibility into everything we do at Test Charter Academy.
Project-based learning and a dedicated STEM program keep students curious, creative, and ready to tackle real-world problems with confidence.
Families are active partners in education at Test Charter Academy. Quarterly learning plan reviews and strong family involvement shape every student's path forward.
At Test Charter Academy, our educational model combines project-based learning with an integrated STEM focus and a deep commitment to character development. We recognize that every student learns differently, so we build structures that personalize the path while holding every child to high standards.
Students engage with real-world challenges across all grade levels, developing critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills that go well beyond the textbook.
Weekly robotics and coding classes in our STEM lab give students in grades 3 through 8 hands-on experience with technology and engineering concepts.
Honors math and reading begin in 5th grade, and an accelerated STEM track in 7th and 8th grade challenges students who are ready to push further ahead.
Every student receives an individualized learning plan that is reviewed with their family each quarter, keeping goals clear and progress visible for everyone involved.
Our educators are passionate, experienced, and deeply committed to the Austin community they serve every day.
Our teachers maintain an 18:1 student-to-teacher ratio, creating space for personalized attention, strong relationships, and the kind of deep learning that sticks.
A full-time interventionist and a Response to Intervention program ensure that students who need extra support receive it twice a week, while enrichment opportunities challenge those who are ready to go further.
Led by Principal Dr. Angela Martinez, our leadership team sets the vision, supports every educator, and ensures that Test Charter Academy remains a school where families feel welcomed and students feel known.
